Major Announcements 14/12/2008
Congratulations to my brother Sean and sister in law Elsje, who just had their first child in November- Arian Marx Goodenough.
I have updated the tree to include new additions to the family, namely: Noah Lim, Ella Carly Goodenough, Ciaran James Hessman Goodenough and Arian Marx Goodenough
All through my childhood, I was enthralled with tales about my grandfather, his father and relatives long since gone. These stories fascinated me and I wanted one day, to be able to pass down the family history to my own children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. I want them to be as proud of our family name as I am.
I asked numerous questions about our family, but found that the family elders were not able to go past their proceeding generation, so at a very early age, I set out to find out all I could about this very unique family. My research began in 1985, with just a few family documents that were stored away in an old biscuit tin in a tallboy. My father was about to destroy them along with his old work references and other material, but I was able to save them and it was from that point on that I decided to appoint myself the family historian. I am a self confessed hoarder. I keep everything, from movie stubs to my grandfather's vaccination receipt issued when he was just three years old. As a result of this, I am now able to proudly display all of my family's precious documents online for your perusal, in the Archives section that I have created.
To all members of the Goodenough family, I want to say a huge thank you for all your input, especially my dearest grandmother, the late Mrs. Sybil Goodenough, the Registrar of Births for England, Scotland and Wales; Mrs. Robyn Levy, Lead Record keeper, St. Catherine’s Birth Index; last but not least, Anthony Kenneth Goodenough for his many documents and records. I have divided this site into various categories, so take some time out to peruse the various sections. I am still working on this site, so please be patient and visit often, because I do update as regularly as I can. Also, Although I have been able to source around 90% of the family genealogy, there are still a few black spots, so if anyone has any information on our family (eg marriage dates, births, deaths, middle names, spouses etc.) please feel free to contact me via email.
